y=-4x+8

First, express both equations in the form:

ax+by= c

-8x-3y=-24 (a)

4x+y= 8 (b)

Multiply (b) by 2 and add both equations:

-8x-3y=-24

8x+2y=16

Multiply both sides by -1

y=8

Replace y on (b) and solve for x

4x+8=8

4x =8-8
