A paratrooper is free falling from a plane at 195 km/hr (kilometers per hour). How fast is this in feet perminute? (1 mile = 1.609 km)

The first step we need to do in order to find this speed in feet per minute is converting the distance from kilometers to feet.

Each kilometer is 3281 feet, so we need to use a rule of three:

1 km -> 3281 ft

195 km -> x ft

\begin{gathered} (1)/(195)=(3281)/(x) \\ x=195\cdot3281=639,795 \end{gathered}

Now, we need to convert from hours to minutes. We know that 1 hour is 60 minutes.

Then, we can calculate our speed in feet per minute:

195\frac{\operatorname{km}}{h}=195\frac{3281\text{ ft}}{60\text{ min}}=(639795)/(60)\frac{ft}{\text{min}}=10,663.25\text{ ft/min}

So the speed in feet per minute is 10663.25 ft/min
