2) A budget car rental agency charges a flat rate of $10.95 for renting a sedan and an additional 45 cents per mile the car was driven. You rent a car to visit your folks in Walla Walla, Washington. When you return the car to the agency, they give you a final bill for $1,465.35. How many miles did you drive with the rental car?

You have the following information:

- The cost of the rent of a sedan is $10.96

- Each mile of travel costs 45 cents or $0.45

- The final bill after the travle was $1,465.35

In order to determine how nay miles you drive, you first subtract to the total final bill the price of the cost of the rent of the sedan, thus, you have:

1,465.35 - 10.96 = 1454.39

Next, you calculate the quotient between the previous result and the cost per mile of travel:

1454.39 / 0.45 = 3231.97 ≈ 3232.0 (this is the number of miles)

Hence, the number of miles you drove is 3232.0 miles
