Solution

(3)/(5)\text{ is equivalent to }(6)/(10)

Steps for comparing fractions

Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

LCM of 5 and 10 is 10

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 10

For the 1st fraction, since 5 × 2 = 10,

(3)/(5)=(3*2)/(5*2)=(6)/(10)

Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 1 = 10,

(6)/(10)=(6*1)/(10*1)=(6)/(10)

Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction

(6)/(10)=(6)/(10)or(3)/(5)=(6)/(10)
