Solution:

soil fertility rates decline in correlation with deforestation. This is because organic matter is lost through deforestation, which, in turn, could lead to deterioration of soil quality or the productive capacity of the land, since the loss of trees and other vegetation can cause desertification, soil erosion, flooding and therefore less cultivation.
