we are given the following equation:


\log \mleft(14-x\mright)=0.5​

To solve this equation we will use the following property of logarithms:


\log _ab=c\rightarrow b=a^c

Applying the property:


14-x=10^(0.5)

subtracting 14 to both sides:


\begin{gathered} 14-14-x=10^(0.5)-14 \\ -x=10^(0.5)-14 \end{gathered}

Multiplying by -1:


x=14-10^(0.5)

Solving the operations:


x=10.4
