The general form of an equation of a line passing through the points is given as;

y=mx + c

where m is the gradient of the line, c is the y-intercept

Finding the slope , m, of the equation as;

m= change in y-coordinate values / change in x-coordinate values

m= 2-1/ 4--2

m= 1/6

Taking point {4,2} , slope of 1/6 and an imaginary point on the line {x,y} the equation of the line will be;

m= change in y-coordinate values / change in x-coordinate values

1/6 = y-2/x-4

1/6 {x-4} = y-2

1/6 x -4/6 = y-2

1/6 x -4/6 +2 = y

1/6 x +8/6 =y

Equation : y= 1/6 x + 8/6

Answer

y= 1/6 x + 8/6
