Solution:

Given the fraction, Rachel R, hiked is;

\begin{gathered} R=(2)/(5) \\ \\ \text{ Multiply numerator and denominator by 2;} \\ \\ R=(2*2)/(5*2) \\ \\ R=(4)/(10) \end{gathered}

Also, the fraction, Tim T, hiked is;

(7)/(10)

It shows that Tim hiked more than Rachel.

Now, we would estimate how much more of the trail Tim hiked than Rachel;

\begin{gathered} (7)/(10)-(4)/(10)=(7-4)/(10) \\ \\ =(3)/(10) \end{gathered}

CORRECT OPTION: (B) about 1/4 more
