In forder to solve for x, we have to isolate it on one side of the equation by following these steps:

1. add 2 on both sides:

u + 2 = 2x - 2 + 2

u + 2 = 2x + 0

u + 2 = 2x

2. Divide both sides by 2:

\begin{gathered} (u+2)/(2)=(2x)/(2) \\ (u+2)/(2)=(2)/(2)* x \\ (u+2)/(2)=1* x \\ (u+2)/(2)=x \\ x=(u+2)/(2) \end{gathered}

Then, the solution is x = (u+2)/2
