Coal is a fossil fuel and it is formed when the dead remains of plants and animals inside the earth's surface get a high temperature and pressure and due course of time it gets converted into fossil fuel, in which coal is also one of them.

Coal can be extracted from the earth in the 2 modes :

0. Opencast Mines

,

1. Underground Mines

1 Opencast Mines: These are the mines that are Open and Sky facing, there is no cover, It is safe, and Doesn't need an exhaust or Oxygen supply for the workers.

2 Underground Mines: These are situated inside the earth's surface, and can be deep up to 100-150 ft. They require a continuous exhaust system to remove the harmful and poisonous gases, In Underground Mines, there is always a certainty of Mines collapse due to the presence of Flammable gases inside like CH4, it becomes very risky to work in such conditions.

So, Underground Coal Mining is More dangerous as compared to Opencast Mining.
