A boat moves through the water with two forces acting on it. One is a 2100N force pushingforward by the motor. The other is 1800N of water resistance force. What is the acceleration ofthe 1200kg boat?

F1 = Force 1 = 2100 N ( pushing forward)

F2 = Force 2 = 1800N (water resistance force)

m = mass = 1200 kg

First, calculate the net force:

Net force = F1 -F2 = 2100N - 1800N = 300N

Apply the formula:

F = m x a

Where:

a = acceleration

Replace with the values given and solve for a

300 N = 1200 kg x a

300N / 1200 kg = a

a = 0.25 m/s^2
