We will use the following formula:


(f(a)-f(b))/(a-b)

The function f will be No. of heartbeats, and the values of (a) and (b) are the time in seconds

so,

When a = 30, f(a) = 51

and when b = 50, f(b) = 85

So, the rate of change will be as follows:


(51-85)/(30-50)=(-34)/(-20)=1.7

The result is 1.7 heartbeats per second

We will find the rate as the heartbeats per minute

So, we will multiply the result by 60

So, the rate = 1.7 * 60 = 102

So, the answer will be the first option 102
