Answer:

Explanation:

1. The equation (-2x + 4y = 3) was supposed to be the product of (-x + 2y = 3) and 2. But the correct result is: (-2x + 4y = 6).

2. The sum of (2x-5y=-3) and (-2x+4y=3) is NOT (-9y = -9). It is (-y = 0). But even this is useless since from point 1, the second equation is incorrect. There are actually two errors in this step.

a) -5y + 4y = -y, not -9y

b) -3 + 3 = 0, not -9

3. Re-Do the problem

2x - 5y = -3

-x + 2y = 3

-------------------------

2x - 5y = -3

-2x + 4y = 6 [Multiply by 2 and add to the first]

-y = 3

y = -3

If y = -3, then 2x - 5y = -3 becomes:

2x - 5(-3) = -3

2x + 15 = -3

2x = -18

x = - 9

The solution is (-9,-3)
