The time of flight = 4 hours

The distance covered= 1800 miles

The speed of the jet = 525 mph

The formula for speed is distance covered divided by time taken;

In this case, confirming the speed of the jet using the distance covered and time taken will be :

Speed of jet expected should be : 1800/4 = 450 mph

However, in the Jetstream, the speed was 525 mph

This means there was an increased in speed in the stream . This should be the speed of wind.

Calculating speed against the jet : 525 - 450 = 75 mph

a). The realtionship for speed of jet in the Jetstream will be ;

Speed = Distance covered/ time taken + 75 mph

525 = 1800/4 + 75 mph

525= D/t + 75

S = D/t + 75 ------------where S is speed of jet in the Jetstream, D is distance covered and t is time take to travel

b). The wind was 75 mph
