I can't figure out how to solve..2x - 8 > x + 9

Given,

The expression is 2x - 8 > x + 9 .

Taking the expression as,


2x-8>x+9

Adding 8 to both sides then,


\begin{gathered} 2x-8+8>x+9+8 \\ 2x>x+17 \end{gathered}

Substracting x from both sides then,


\begin{gathered} 2x-x>x-x+17 \\ x>17 \end{gathered}

Hence, the value of x is greater than 17.
