To calculate the percentage of the free throws that were successful:

\frac{\text{Throws made}}{\text{Total of attemped throws}}=(71)/(100)=0.71

To get the percentage you multiply it by 100:

0.71\cdot100=71

Answer: The player made 71% of the free throws attempted.
