The union between two sets is the set that contains all the elements of both sets.

In this case, the interval [-15,-5] contains all the numbers from -15 to -5 including -15 and -5, while the interval (-5,16) includes all the numbers from -5 to 16 without including -5 and 16.

Since the intervals have an endpoint in common, which is -5, and it is included in one of the intervals, then, the union can be simplified as:

[-15,-5]\cup(-5,16)=[-15,16)

Therefore, the answer is: [-15,16).
