Delia is bagging 24 onion bagels and 16 plain bagels for her bakery customers. Each bag will hold only 1 type of bagel. Each bag will hold the same number of bagels. What is the greatest number of bagels she can put in each bag?

Answer:

8 bagels in each bag, 3 bags of onion, 2 bags of plain

24 onion bagel

16 normal bagel

We need the GCF (Greatest Common Factor) of 16 and 24 to find the answer.

Factors of 16 = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16

Factors of 24 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24

What is the GCF? It is 8.

Hence, 8 bagels in each bag.

24/8 = 3 bags of onion bagels

and

16/8 = 2 bags of plain bagels
