Area of a trapezoid is given by the formula;

A=(a+b)/(2)h

where a= base

b=base

h= height

From the diagram;

h= 40 yards

a = 36yards

b=42 yards

Substituting into the formula;

A=\text{ }(36+42)/(2)(40)
A=(78)/(2)(40)

A=39 (40)

A=1560 square yards
