The coordinates of the point U are (-1,6) and the coordinates of point V are(-9,6). What is the distance, in units, between the point U and point V?

The distance between two points (a,b) and (c,d) is given by

d=\sqrt[]{(c-a)^2+(d-b)^2}

Here u = (-1,6) and v=(-9,6)

Hence the distance is given by

\begin{gathered} d=\sqrt[]{(-9+1)^2+(6-6)^2_{}} \\ d=\sqrt[]{-8^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{64} \\ d=8 \end{gathered}
