Consider the given inequality,


4-(1)/(8w)<16

Add -4 on both sides,


4-(1)/(8w)-4<16-4\Rightarrow(-1)/(8w)<12

Multiply both sides by -8, (the inequality sign will get changed),


(1)/(w)>-96

Take reciprocals of both the sides,


w<-(1)/(96)

Thus, the solution region contains all the points strictly less than negative 1/96.
