Given: The thickness of a dime and a dollar as shown below

\begin{gathered} T_{\text{hickness of dime}}=0.135cm \\ T_{\text{hickness of a dollar}}=1.0922*10^(-2)cm \end{gathered}

To Determine: How many times thicker is the dime than the dollar bill

Solution:

Step 1: Convert the thickness of the dollar bill from standard form to ordinary form

1.0922*10^(-2)=0.010922cm

Step 2: Divide the thickness of the dime by the thickness of the dollar bill

\begin{gathered} (0.135cm)/(0.010922cm) \\ =12.36 \\ \approx12 \end{gathered}

Hence, the dime is about 12 times thicker than the dollar bill
