Heather is going shopping. She has no more than $35.00 to spend. She wants to buy a pair of shoes for $14.95 and some scarves for $6.25 each.
Which inequality can Heather use to determine how many scarves, s, she can buy?

6.25s+14.95>35

6.25s+14.95<35

6.25s+14.95≤35

6.25s+14.95≥35

The wording “No more than” tells us that the total can be up to 35, but not more. So we can use the less than or equal to sign, ≤

So what she spends, must be less than or equal to 35:

6.25s+14.95 ≤ 35
