If AB = BC, then we can express the following


50-2x=8x+5

Then, we solve for x


\begin{gathered} 50-5=8x+2x \\ 45=10x \\ x=(45)/(10) \\ x=4.5 \end{gathered}

Hence, x is equal to 4.5.

AB=50-2x=50-2\cdot4.5=50-9=41
