Using the quadratic formula;

2x²+7x+3=0

comparing the above with

ax² + bx + c =0

a=2 b=7 c=3

substitute the values into the formula

`x=\frac{-7\pm\sqrt[]{7^2-4(2)(3)}}{2(2)}`
`x=\frac{-7\pm\sqrt[]{49-24}}{4}`
`x=\frac{-7\pm\sqrt[]{25}}{4}`
`x=(-7\pm5)/(4)`
`\text{either x= }(-7-5)/(2)\text{ or x=}(-7+5)/(2)`
`x=(-12)/(2)\text{ or x=}(-2)/(2)`
`x=-6\text{ or x=-1}`
