given the inequality:

-9 < 4x + 3 < 27

we are to solve for x

we will have to solve the innquality seperately.

recall, if a

so,

-9 < 4x + 3

subtract 3 from bothe sides

-9 -3 < 4x + 3 - 3

-12 < 4x

divide both sides by 4

-12/4 < 4x/4

-3 < x

so lets solve for the other part.

4x + 3 < 27

subtract 3 from both sides

4x + 3 - 3 < 27 - 3

the +3 and -3 cancels out on the left hand side

4x < 27 - 3

4x < 24

divide both sides by 4

4x/4 < 24/4

x < 24/4

x < 6

therefore the combining the two:

-3(with no spaces).
