The correct answer is -5 1/2 (option B)

From the image, we would see tht point R is at the middle of the number line.

The number line is between -8 and 0. That is, it starts at -8 and ends at 0.

The mid point of 0 to -8 = (0-8)/2

The mid point = -8/2 = -4

Point R = -4

Point Q is the midpoint of -8 to R = -8 to -4

Distance = -4-(-8) = -4+8 =4

mid point = 4/2 = 2

This means the position of each midpoint increases by 2

Point Q = -8 + 2 = -6

Since point K is between Q and R, the number between them would be greater than -6 but less than R

The correct answer is -5 1/2 as this is the only number in the option that is greater than -6 but less than -4.
