Suppose the area of a rectangle can be expressed by the polynomial expression 3x^4 - 5x^3 + 9x + 14. Would it be possible to express the width of the expression as (x + 2)?

we have

3x^4 - 5x^3 + 9x + 14

Find the zeros of the function

REmember that the zeros of the function are the values of x when the value of the function is equal to zero

so

equate to zero the given expression

3x^4 - 5x^3 + 9x + 14=0

using a graphing tool

see the attached figure

The function has no real solutions

therefore

It's not possible to express the width of the expression as (x + 2)
