Reptiles are vertebrate species, such as birds and mammals, but they differ in being animals with cold blood, or ectothermic because they depend on external sources of heat to warm their bodies up. Also, they have scales along all their skin, such as snakes and alligators. They are oviparous animals because they lay eggs outside of their bodies for their pups to develop and posteriorly hatch and be born.
