Factoring the function g(x) = -x² + x + 2, we have the factors (-x -1) and (x-2). Equate them to zero to find the x-intercept


\begin{gathered} -x-1=0 \\ -1=x \\ x=-1 \\ \\ x-2=0 \\ x=2 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the function g(x) should have x-intercepts at ( -1 , 0 ) and ( 2 , 0 ), and since the first term of the function is negative, the parabola is facing downwards. These are exhibited by graph A.
