x=3

y=2

as an ordered pair

(3,2)

Step-by-step explanation

\begin{gathered} 4x+5y=22 \\ -4x+10y=8 \end{gathered}

Step 1

add equation (1) and equation(2)

\begin{gathered} 4x+5y=22 \\ + \\ -4x+10y=8 \\ =0+15y=30 \\ 15y=30 \\ \text{divide both sides by 15} \\ y=(30)/(15) \\ y=2 \end{gathered}

Step 2

now, replace the value of y =2 in equation (1) to find x

\begin{gathered} 4x+5y=22 \\ 4x+5(2)=22 \\ 4x+10=22 \\ 4x=22-10 \\ 4x=12 \\ x=(12)/(4) \\ x=3 \end{gathered}

I hope this helps you
