-5x + 4y = -18

-8x + 10y = -18

First substract both equations to get result

(-5x -- 8x) + (4y - 10y) = 0

3 x - 6y = 0

Then y= (3/6)•x

Now replace y at

-5x + 4•(3/6)•x = -18

Find x

x = -18/ (-5+ 2)

. = -18/-3

. = 6

Now find y

y = (3/6)•x = 3•6/6 = 3

Then ANSWERS ARE

x = 6

y = 3

.
