Solution:

  • According to mid point theorem, the line segment joining the mid-points of any two sides of a triangle, is parallel to the third side and half of it.
  • Here, UQ = QR

So, Q is the mid-point of UR.

  • Similarly, UT = TS

So, T is the mid-point of US.

  • So, QT is parallel to RS and half of it.
  • Given, QT = w and RS = w + 37
  • Therefore, QT = 1/2 RS

or, w = 1/2(w + 37)

or, w = w/2 + 37/2

or, w - w/2 = 37/2

or, w/2 = 37/2

or, w = 37/2 × 2

or, w = 37.

Answer:

The value of w is 37.

Hope it helps.
