Two charges, q1 and q2, are separated by a certain distance. The ratio of charge q1 to charge q2 is 1:2. What is the ratio of the magnitude of the force on q1 to the magnitude of the force on q2?

Give, the ratio of the charges is 1:2.

From Newton's third law, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. That is the force exerted by q₁ on q₂ is equal to the force exerted by q₂ on q₁. But these forces will be in the opposite directions.

Therefore the raion of the magnitude of the force on q₁ to the magnitude of the force on q₂ is 1:1
