Describe in your own words what is a rigid transformation. Give an example of a rigid and non rigid transformation.

A rigid transformation is where the shape size and measurements stay the same. The shape is still congruent to the new image. Example transformations as reflection, translation, and rotation.


A non-rigid is where the size and measurements change. Example is a dilation where you use a scale factor to make a shape enlarged or smaller.

A rigid transformation is a kind of transformation in which the shape and size of a figure is not altered.

The figure that undergoes rigid transformation does not change in shape or size.

Examples of rigid transformation are rotation, reflection, and translation
