The given inequality is : x + 2 > 3x - 8

x + 2 > 3x - 8

Subtract 2 from both side :

x + 2 - 2 > 3x - 8 - 2

x > 3x - 10

Subtract 3x from both side:

x - 3x > 3x - 10 - 3x

-2x > - 10

Multiply both side by (-1) and reverse the inequality:

(-1)(-2x) < (-1) (-10)

2x < 10

Divide both side by 2

2x/2 < 10/2

x < 5

x + 2 > 3x - 8 = x < 5

Answer : C) x < 5
