Notice that:

\begin{gathered} -23<-21, \\ 8.3<10. \end{gathered}

Therefore:

8.3*10^(-24)<10*10^(-24)=10^(-23)<10^(-21)<1.66*10^(-21)\text{.}

Then a carat is greater.

Now, since:

1atomic\text{ mass unit=8.3}*10^(-24)carat.

Then:

(1)/(8.3)*10^(24)\text{atomic mass unit=1carat.}

Simplifying the above result we get:

1\text{carat}=1.20*10^(23)\text{atomic mass units.}

Also, since:

1\text{atomic mass unit=1.66}*10^(-21)milligram

then:

(1)/(1.66)*10^(21)\text{atomic mass unit=1 milligram.}

Simplifying the above result we get:

1\text{ milligram=6.02}*10^(20)atomic\text{ mass units.}

Answer:

A carat is greater.

1\text{carat}=1.20*10^(23)\text{atomic mass units.}

and

1\text{ milligram=6.02}*10^(20)atomic\text{ mass units.}
