Answer:

  • $9,700=640x+880y+100 let me know if it is set up in a different way because I can only see a's answer

Explanation:

  • first we find out how much the required directors will take out of our budget
  • we need 3 Jr and 1 Sr
  • Jr get paid$640 a week and a Sr gets paid$880
  • so we do 640×3=1,920
  • now we add the Jrs and the Sr
  • 1,920+880=2,800
  • so we are gonna subtract them from our total
  • 9,700-2,800=6,900
  • we have $6,900 left
  • we need at least 7 more employees so we need to figure out how much money we can spend for the next 7 employees
  • 6,900÷7= $985.7142857
  • now we know how much we can spend at least $985 per employee we can hire 7 more Sr directors
  • 7×880= $6,160
  • now we take that off the left over to see what we get
  • 6,900-6,160=740
  • we can afford one more Jr director then we will have $100 remaining
  • in total we can afford 8 Sr directors and 4 Jr directors with $100 remaining
  • to put that in an equation it would be
  • $9,700=640x+880y+100
