Answer: Allen decides to make 3 cups of dark orange paint and 3 cups of light orange paint. How many ounces of yellow paint does he need

darker paint we multiply by 3 = 7 * 3 + 1 * 3 = 21 red + 3 yellow = 24 ounces darker shade paint . Whereas the lighter paint is also multiply by 3 = 13* 3 + 3*3 = 39 yellow + 9 red = 48 ounces of lighter shade. Allen used 21 + 9 = 30 red paint and 3+39 = 42 yellow paint altogther

Step-by-step explanation: simultanuous equations below prove

7r + 1y = 1 + 3r + 13y = 2 = times by 13 to translate y = 91r + 13y = 13 - 3r+13r = 2 = 88r = 11 = r = 11/88 = 0.125 input (0.125 for( r) = 7(0.125 ) + 1y = 1 = 0.875 + 1y = 1 = 1y = 1 - 0.875= 0.125 = y = 0.125 3r + 13(0.125 ) = 2 = 3r +1.625 = 2 3r = 2-1.625 = 3r = 0.375 = r = 0.375 /3 = 0.125 r = 0.125 = y = 0.125 as 7r + 0.125 = 1 7r = 1-0.125 = 7r = 0.875 r= 0.875/7 =0.125 and therefore both yellow and red are 0.125 as 2 /1 cups -= 1 cup and each cup is 8 ounces we find ounces = 1 /0.125 = 8 and 2 / 0.125 = 16 and know that 3 / 0.125 = 24 being 3 cups
