Explanation:

(Probability isn’t my strongest, so I may be wrong.) 19% are football players, 62% are basketball, and 8% play both basketball and football. First, I would subtract 8 from 19 and 62 because I would want to find the percentages that JUST play football and basketball (The # of people that just play that one sport, not both.) When they say that 19% are football players, that means that 19% of the athletes are playing football, but they can also be playing basketball. When I subtract 8 from 19, I’m finding the number of people playing ONLY football.

19-8=11

62-8=54

Because they are asking for the percentage of either football or basketball, I added 11 and 54 to get 65 percent. I did this because they said either, which meant one or the other sport. Not both.

Note: Caution my answer. I’m… safe to say pretty bad at probability. Thanks!
