so HJ + JK = HK or KH

(2x + 5) + (3x - 7) = 18

2x + 3x + 5 - 7 = 18

5x - 2 = 18

HJ = 2x + 5 = 2(4) + 5 = 8 + 5 = 13

JK = 3x - 7 = 3(4) - 7 = 12 - 7 = 5
