At first Christianity and Judaism were one religion until Jesus arose and started preachng through israel teaching things that did not correalate to jewish teachings and laws. because of this, the jewish community were frustrated and they had several confrontations with jesus about his teaching whcih jesus easily avoided so after jesus had died, the teachings he had taught stayed in the disciples and the disciples were told to share the gospel of jesus so this is where christianity originated so because of this the jewish community persecuted them becuase they were sharing the gospel of jesus christ so Yes christianity did split from jewish laws and no becasue christianity started when jesus died and they stopped following Jewish laws.
