Given values :

Angle 3 = 4x + 20

Angle 5 = 6x + 10

and, we can observe from the figure that if Angle 3 is equal to Angle 5, then line s will be parallel to line r, because they form pair of alternate interior angles.


  • 4x + 20 = 6x + 10


  • 6x - 4x = 20 - 10


  • 2x = 10


  • x = 5

hence, the value of x such that the lines s and r will be parallel to each other is 5
