Answer:

a. 2q-q, nickels 2q

Explanation:

let number of quarters = q,

let number of Nicole's = 2q

2q + q = 15 \\ 3q = 15 \\ (3q)/(3) = (15)/(3 ) \\ q = 5 \: quarters\\ 2(5) = 10 \: nickles

10 * .05 = .50 \\ 5 * .25 = 1.25 \\ .50 + 1.25 = 1.75

Answer:

The equation should be 1.75 - .50 or (10n)= q

OR q+n = 1.75

Step-by-step answer:

Keira has 15 coins, 10 of those are nickels (10n = .50) and 5 of those are quarters (5q = 1.25) since she has twice as many nickels as quarters, and 2 times 5 equals 10. She has 1.75 in total which is 10*.5 =.50 and 5 *.25 = 1.25 and adding the two gets you 1.75.

I hope this isnt too confusing.

If Keira has 5 quarters and 10 nickels, she will have 1.75 cents while also having 15 coins. Make sense?

Hope this helps. :)
