If two angles are complementary they add up to a total of 90 degrees.

So we know that

D1+D2=90, because the problem tells us they're complementary

Now, we know as well that D1 = 74, so we can plug it into the little equation and solve in terms of D2.


D1+D2=90


74+D2=90


D2=90-74


D2=16
