this is in general

y = ax + b

"a" being the slope, "b" being the y-intercept (y value when x = 0).

when a line is parallel to another line, this means they both have the same slope.

so, we can use the same "a" from the original line : -1

to get "b" we use the given point coordinates :

5 = -1×-3 + b = 3 + b

2 = b

so, the full equation is

y = -x + 2
