Given :

  • 5 − 3x = −7

To Find :

  • The required value of x .

Solution :

\qquad \sf \: { \dashrightarrow 5 - 3x = - 7}

Adding (–5) to both sides :

\qquad \sf \: { \dashrightarrow 5 + ( - 5) \: − 3x = −7 + ( - 5)}

\qquad \sf \: { \dashrightarrow \: − 3x = - 12}

Dividing both sides by 3 :

\qquad \sf \: { \dashrightarrow ( - 3x)/(3) = ( - 12)/(3) }

\qquad \sf \: { \dashrightarrow − x = −4}

Cancelling (–) from both sides we get :

\qquad {\pmb {\bf{ \dashrightarrow x = 4}}} \\

Therefore, The required value of x is 4.

Explanation:

5 − 3x = −7

=> 5 + 7 = 3x

=> 12 = 3x

= > x = (12)/(3)

=> x = 4 (Ans)
