4. What might explain why Texas settlements did not extend further to the northwest?

Answer: Comanche and Apache territories are northwest

Explanation: They are these territories that are northwest which is something to do with the natives which includes them to be a tribe. The comanche were the only native americans more powerful than the apache. When they finally gained power , they made them move further west . They had to make peace with their enemies meaning no war just peace , they were more powerful than the other people.
