Gilgamesh learns that death is an imminent and unavoidable fact of human life. Gilgamesh is resentful that only the gods have eternal life. Life is short, the two fighters tell each other on their way to the fatal encounter in the Cedar Forest, and the only thing that lasts is fame. Death may be the only event that humans have no power over. Nevertheless, we have the power over what we do in life, where we live, and those we familiarise ourselves with. However, death is a part of living. It is not good, body-wise, to remain on such a gruesome result.
