The establishment of Jamestown was similar to the establishment of the Plymouth Colony for many reasons, most of which include the common form of self government, complicated relations with natives, and cannibalism. Jamestown and Plymouth settlers did not get along very well with natives. Through the self government system they both set up, a point of hunger in which historians call “Starving Time” (a one year famine from 1609-1610) was reached. Both groups of pilgrims resorted to cannibalism because of extreme hunger endured throughout harsh weather conditions.
